Dr. James L. Ray, Sr. Ph.D
Blessed in birth May, 28th 1962 to Linda J. Kelley (Butler) in the city of Houston, TX and the eldest of
three boys, God has found favor on my life. The husband of Karen E. Ray and proud father of 9, LaTasha
(Mike), Keisha (Micheal), Alesha, Chanterria (Kenny), Jasmine, Danyel, Janea, Javera and James Jr. and
the proud grand father of 8, I am BLESSED!
Life’s experiences and bumps and hardships have taught me to be thankful in EVERY SITUATION.
Totally deaf in my left ear, and told that I would never amount to anything, God has been good! Doors
have been open and the way to professionalism in the gospel has been paved. I am learning that my life is
in my hands. I have been given the choice of following Christ or messing up and following me. I have
decided that I will on follow Christ and do as He commands.
Only God
One can easily get caught up in his accomplishments stating how far he has come in life. It is easy to say
that I have studied and worked hard enough to get where I am. But I would be a fool to brag on me when
God has made everything possible. He and He alone is the reason for my status.
Blessed to have served a Pastor of an AMAZING group of people and serve as musician at my home
church, New Mt. Carmel Baptist of Houston, TX. I think about it, I came up under great musicians such as
Dr. Jessie M. Berry, the late Pastor Andrew W. Berry and the astonishing John T. Fuller. Then God has
placed me in position to be the organist for the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. - Evangelical
Board for 16 years behind the likes of the late Pastor Andrew W. Berry and Pastor Terry K. Anderson.
Now, since the year 2000, I have been serving as the organist for the Greater New Bethel Baptist and The
Heritage Music Foundation under the musical leadership of Dr. Margaret P. Douroux, I say...”Only God!”
There are musicians that are far better qualified and skilled enough to be where God has placed me and I
recognize that “Only God” can do all that has been done.
Welcome into my small space that will be shared and feel free to look around and converse with me.
Be BLESSED and remember - “ONLY GOD!”
Palm Weekend
I enjoyed all of the Palm
Weekend Trips that encluded trips
to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite
and other wonderful locations.
We will be returning to that field
of ministry in 2016!!!
